Michigan has seen tremendous improvement and reform in the criminal legal system through implementation of Standards by the MIDC. This session will provide an overview of the purpose of the MIDC's work, the Standards approved by the Commission, funding available for attorneys and defense resources, and values of client-centered representation.

Focus of this presentation:

Understand all MIDC Standards, including increased compensation for all assigned counsel (public defenders and private attorneys)

Know how to seek funding for defense experts, investigators, and related resources.

Learn how the MIDC works with funding units to ensure compliance and improve public defense statewide
